The Story of a Photographer

I am Lydia or you can call me Lyd. I am a photographer living on Brisbane's Bayside, originally from the heart of the beautiful Scenic Rim in South-East Queensland, where the grassy paddocks meets the

Great Dividing Range. I'm not a big one for anything super posed, so what I capture is the true heart touching raw moments. I love being able to photography people in their element, just being themselves in amongst grassy paddocks on a lovely afternoon during sunset.

You can always find me either at a coffee shop drinking an almond milk latte, behind the camera capturing those naturally posed everyday moments, or taking a break lakeside at my special place Moogerah Dam.

When someone asks me what I love to photograph I generally say anything and everything. But one specialisation, I have recently loved venturing into is concert photography. Which all started back in 2019. Being invited to photograph my cousin who performed as the local support opening artist for Aussie Rock legend Jimmy Barnes at the Home of The Arts, on the Gold Coast. I have also been privileged enough to photograph the 2020 Queensland Music Award winners, ARIA and Golden Guitar nominated duo Busby Marou, ARIA and Golden Guitar nominated Casey Barnes, ARIA nominated Ziggy Alberts as well as Triple J artist Kim Churchill. In coming years I look forward to capturing more world renowned artists

I have had a huge passion for photography and capturing those precious memories for many years, with it all starting back 10 years ago during my grade 10 work experience after using a DSLR camera for the first time with a newborn photographer as my mentor. That is where my love for capturing those small details as well as my love for that golden light just before sunset begins.

Which then lead me to starting a Bachelor of Photography at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. But due to personal reasons I have now discontinued studying. No matter what life throws at me I will always be behind the camera capturing those everyday candid moments, no matter where I am and of course I will still be drinking my almond milk lattes.
